Preparing for vray 2.0 ATI or Nvidia

hello all.
sorry to ask a simple question, but the group is 50/50 in making there mind.

i am currently a member of my school lab ( i am part of a group of people that maintain and upgrades the school computer lab).
my school just got the green light to prepare for vray 2.0. I was wondering if our current build will conflict with vray 2.0. Since i hear people running Ati cards are unable to use vray gpu.

this is our standard computer spec.
i7 2.8ghz quad
12gb of ram
WD 500gb hardrive.
ATI Radeon HD 5770

Halve of the team would like to invest in nvidia cards and others are saying to wait for the new 10.12 update.

my question
- will the new ATI update 10.12 work with vray rt gpu? or a future update will fix this
- or should we just invest in nvidia and forget about ATI for now?
- any suggestion on what can be updated?

From what I know ATI is working in chaosgroup office. They are probably preparing big launch or update or something like that. So if u not on fire I'd say to w8 for ati support and then decide...
