  • Animation limited to vram?

Was doing testing last night and was really excited to test out using rt gpu as an claymodel animatic renderer for client review. It seemed to knock out really great looking frames in like 10 seconds!

Tried it today on a real scene with a bit over 1 mil polys (no textures, overriding grey vraymtl ) and the vray render server crashes after the 4th frame. Error looks like this.

    Error CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES (-5)

Guessing that's vram? Does that mean each frame must be stored cumulatively?

No, there is no need for the entire animation to fit, but some more VRAM might be needed. You can try reducing the ray bundle size/rays per pixel settings to free some VRAM; turning off Aero in Windows 7/Vista may also help.

    Best regards,

If that's true why does it crash on the 4th frame? The first 3 frames come out perfect, very fast ( first one takes longer ) then 4th one it stops. My cards can definately handle the scene, I've been using activeshade most of the time with it. And if I try to do a single frame it works perfectly as well, the only problem is after multiple frames get rendered...

Not really sure; can you get me your scene to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that we can investigate it?

        Best regards,
