  • How do you use V-Ray RT?

I would like to know how you are using RT.
Do you have it always on in a a floating window or just during lighting or materials setup?
Did you buy an extra card for it to run on and use your other card to continue working?

I own RT since the first release but i was never able to gain some time advantage over doing normal testrenders with fast preview settings.
I think i am missing something but i dont know how to put this to use in a production scene with lots of objects and textures.
    Reflect, repent and reboot.
    Order shall return.

    Hi Tammo,

I use RT GPU or CPU only for previews. I create the ambient, sun and sky and I check in realtime the illumination. In the scenes I don't use many 3d furnitures, plants, etc.
After having done a good camera setup I will use the "legacy" Vray render for the high resolution image.
Now I prefer to use the CPU RT render because GPU doesn't support procedural materials, blends, and many more vray materials. I hope that the next RT GPU will support all vray materials, no problem for procedural textures because I can create them saving like bitmaps.
