Quadro and GTX in the same machine?

Is it possible to run a Quadro in the same machine as a GTX card? I'd liike to use both cards processors for Vray RT but have heard that the presence of a Geforce deactivates the quadro's drivers.

I'm thinking that if anyone has experience of this it has to be vray rt users.

Well, so I now know that is not possible. So all of you that runs Vray RT either uses GTX (or Radeon) cards only or Quadro together with Tesla??

Would anyone like to share their experiences with their Quadros and how they feel it is significantly better than a regular Geforce? Besides from fps, is there a difference in antialiasing and other display related experiences. For a Vray RT user (or other CUDA solutions) it isn't just the extra cost of the Quadro, but also Teslas. Vlado, would it be possible to start a poll and see how many are using Quadro and if so, what they use for stream processing? I would assume this would be interesting to know for your VRay RT strategy as well.

That's it. You can have both cards installed, but the Max performance drivers don't work (all cards must be Quadro to use them). Anyway, you can use it in Max with the standard directX drivers.

About performance, well i have a Quadro 4000 and compared with my old GTX 260, it is faster working in DirectX mode, and much faster using the Max performance drivers. I have not tested the new GTX models (285 and so).

The problem is that we don't know the plans of NVidia regarding Max 2012 and Quadro cards. Would be fantastic a Quadro driver optimized for Nitrous, but by now there is not information about it.

What i really hate of the Quadro 4000 is the hardware design. The fan is very weak for the temperature that this card reaches. The cooling system of the GTX 260 was much better being a cheap gaming card. Very bad for a Quadro which costs 1000 Eur.

Autodesk said they will not be supporting or certify any "performance drivers" anymore from 2012 onwards

What does that mean? There won't be Maxtreme drivers, or just that Nvidia will make them without support from Autodesk? Interesting development if it were to mean that Autodesk wanted to make Nitrous good enough on regular cards, but a massive setback for Quadro and FirePro. Personally I'm mostly looking for better antialiasing in Max and in particular Revit.

the quadro's got better antialiasing with the maxtreme drivers. so will have to wait an see what happens with 2012.
