    I have a similar question ,

I have one quadro 4000 and just recently re-installed my old quadro 1700, what will vray do, does it select just one card ( hopefully the 4000) or use both cards? is there a way to test/check ?

    maya 2012 , vray 2.0 , win 7

When the standalone runs in GPU mode, it will print out the available devices, something like:
      Code:
      Using platform 0: NVIDIA CUDA
Number of OpenCL devices found: 2
      OpenCL device list:
        Device 0: GeForce GTX 580
        Device 1: GeForce GTX 580
You can then create an environment variable called VRAY_OPENCL_DEVICES that lists the numbers (0, 1 etc) of devices that you want to be used for rendering by V-Ray RT, separated by a comma. Next time you run Maya and the V-Ray RT render server, it will use just the specified devices.

        Thanks Vlado !
just trying that now , hit a problem now though... the V-ray stand alone keeps stopping working is this because i've put the old card in ?

think ive just realized your first answer would probably stop this error..

          in fact, it did !

for the sake of this thread, the quadro 1700 was the prob, but your environment variable solution put an end to it interfering , happy days !!

          thanks again Vlado
