Render Machine CPU question

Since these chips have hyper threading this would mean 32 threads for a single frame of rendering. The operating system I plan on using is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Vlado, have you seen any performance issues with this configuration or type of configuration?

Whatever you decide, just make sure you *do not* get a quad-processor AMD machine, they do not have a good performance for rendering at the moment. Single or dual-processor is ok, as far as we could test here.

I wouldn't be so surprised. Specialized compilers are required to make use of more than 2 CPU sockets. I believe AMD systems also have their own particular NUMA implementation which requires an even higher level of specialization to fully exploit.

My question is more to do with whether Vray doesn't like any quad-socket system or specifically Magny-Cours/Interlagos quad-socket systems.
