  • Another new farm build

We're just about to order some more slaves so I thought I'd run the spec passed all you experts first, to make sure I haven't done anything dumb, before pushing the button!

    INTEL I7 3930K £365.12
    WIN 7 PRO £91.55
    SEAGATE 500GB 6GB/S £44.99
    OCZ MODXSTREAM PRO 500W SILENT S £41.00
    ATX CASE £39.87
    5450 512MB £15.82
    AKASA VENOM VOODOO COOLER £33.10
    4 x CORSAIR LP VENGEANCE (2X4GB) DDR3 £34.50
    2 x AKASA APACHE FAN - 120MM £9.89
    ASUS P9X79 STANDARD £159.78

    System cost £949.01 + vat

I chose this board because of the 8 DIMM slots, so we can swap out the RAM for 64GB if we need to in the future. Though I really hope we never need to!

I also have the option of them building the machine for £36 a pop which will give me 1 years RTB warranty that isn't void if we OC. I would normally build myself, but this sounds like a good deal to me.I'd love to hear your thoughts...

    Cheers,
    Olly

    Hi Olly,

Its a good spec machine, the 3930k is givving some great price performance, have you not got into racking them yet? Gets that little more pricey, but great to have everything in one contained unit.

Where did you end up buying from in the end?

    Thanks

    Rhys

id buy a small capacity ssd instead of the hdd.. will cost a touch more, but a 64 gb one would be sufficient, and will give you a nice little speed boost when starting up and with any paging that needs to be done.
