Sorry I meant 2x overclocked 3930Ks are equal to dual 2687W
Dual 2687 scores around 25 Cinebench points, and one 3930K overclocked to 4.6 scores 13 points.
You should keep in mind that even stock 3930K has better single thread performance than 2687W
It's almost always going to be cheaper to buy 2 or 3 overclocked consumer chip-based render nodes than 1 stock dual-processor monster. Consider the massive extra cost of 2 or 3 dual-cpu motherboards, 2 or 3 sets of ECC RAM, 2 or 3 mega PSUs required etc. then the additional electricity costs might come into play, too. It usually comes down to what you need it all for. If you're buying them for Backburner or general network rendering of frames or multiple different stills then multiple machines = ideal. If you want multiple machines for DBR use to speed up rendering of single images using DBR then 2 machines does not = 2 x the render speed of 1 machine, so the benefits will drop off somewhat. There's also the issue of getting your OC rock-solid stable and having multiple phyiscal machines to house in your location, if space is an issue.

Also a 3x i7 3930k Will perform better with ram transfer datas. As you have 1 to 1 unit ram read write which will run at around 15gb/s+ when you have 2x xeon u looking at 15 for read and 10 for write(more or less I might get mix up with them) so a single socket CPU will have better performance when transferring data between ram and cpu.
I also wanted Xeon workstation but finally decided to go 3930K overclocked to 4.6 when I found out that if your CPU burns (3 year warranty) you can send it back to intel and they will send you new one without a hassle so Just OC it as much as you can , use it and forget it.

That doesnt sound right. You sure you read the fine print nicely?
Not sure what shady roads are there in terms of RMA, maybe ur suplier can RMA a broken OC chip but I think intel itself wont RMA it. But then again maybe it will with unlocked series...
