  • monitor/display - what are you using, etc.?

Looking to get a new screen and would love if some folks would post what they are working with out there...
I have been looking around and searching, but I am getting all turned around and discouraged about IPS vs. LED/E vs. LED vs. LCD and so on.
I am using two Dell 2007WFP, which are very good, but are starting to show signs of their age/use. Colors in renderings seem to be on par with client's expectations, too.

Sole intended use: 3dsMax & Photoshop
    Budget:300-400 USD

Again, I am more interested in what people are currently using, and the good or bad.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm using a Dell U2412M. I've got it paired with a 2007WFP, both are calibrated and the colors are pretty close on both. If anything I prefer the 2412's colors. Plus it runs a lot cooler and it doesn't really need to warm up to get proper brightness.

    www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

Thanks dlparisi, that one was on my shortlist, so it's good to hear your comments.

I'm torn with this. The u2410 was the previous high quality monitor by dell which had a 10 bit panel and a really wide range of colours, plus it calibrated easily. The 2412 is about 25% cheaper, only covers the srgb space (which is still fine for me) and has an 8 bit panel. They've now stopped the 2410 and brought out the 2413 but that's 30% pricier than the 2410 - covers a huge gamut but more money again.

Dell 2410 if I can find one for me, otherwise it's a struggle between the price of the 2412 and the colour of the 2413. My previous Lacie crt is finally dying after about 14 years so I reckon I'll get plenty of years out of it.

Great, at least I seem to be struggling between a couple of "good" ones...
          Thank you

Used dell, HP and apple monitors over the past 8 years. The apple ones are nice, overpriced and none of the colour controls work on windows on the 24" cinema display I used. I'm on hp ones at the minute which are great, and the dell 2410's in my last company were really solid too.

Here's the hp - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hp_zr24w.htm - one thing that'd put me off the dell is the 1080 screen res height, it's handy having a full 1080 image and a bit more space for time lines and so on, likewise you can roll out slightly more panels in max at the same time.

Oh nice, yeah I like the idea of the 16:10, but I can't make it an eliminator, yet...
                    Thanks again
