Hi,
I've just purchased a larger monitor that is to become my main one (a Dell U2711) which has yet to arrive.
Upto now I've been using a 25.5" Samsung that I've never really been totally happy with.
My current graphics card is a Quadro 2000.
I'd like to set up my system to be a dual monitor since I did used to enjoy the increased screen space when working like that.
I believe my current graphics card will support a resolution of 2560x1600 and of course that would not be enough.
Also, with Quadro 2000 surprisingly I have been having viewport reliability issues when in Max (causing me to restart the software - on a a fairly regular basis).
So, what card to go for ?
I don't have a big budget, I could stretch to £500 but I'll need it to work across both monitors (I enjoy working at 1920x1600 on my Samsung so when the Dell arrives that'd imply a resolution of at least the same again).
Do I look at buying 2 x graphics cards and dedicating each to a single monitor ?
Or to just one graphics card to serve both monitors ?
Would I be best off simply getting a 2nd Quadro 2000 ?
My mobo is a SuperMicro X8SAX (i7 - 940) and at some point I'd like to upgrade most of the innards to a x79 (3930 ?).
Most other components in my system I'm really happy with and don't plan on upgrading (i.e. SSD OS, 4 x WD 1Tb harddisks, 1000w supply etc etc).
2 x 580 2gbs ?
1 x 680 4gb ?
Another 2000 Quadro ?
FYI, if I purchase either of the 1st two options I'd sell the Quadro 2000 I do own.
Many thanks for any guidance/advice.
Jez
