AMD FX8350, i7 3930K (S2011) or i7 3770k for render slave

    Corsair vengeance. Unfortunately most ram these days seems to come with stupidly big heatsinks, and in my moderate sized case, I couldn't fit both the fans on the watercooler as the ram would not sit in the slot! It is 4x8GB. I've since found a supplier of low profile sticks, so the next build will use those.

        Be aware that these CPUs DO NOT come with a heat sink or fan and therefore you have a choice of only a small selection of 3rd party offerings. The good thing about many of the mainboards for the 2011 socket is that they have 8x dim sockets (4 either side of CPU). As far as I am aware, none of the 3rd party cooler offerings will work when these dim slots are populated, so I think that the water cooler option is the only viable option as that leaves more room for stupidly big ram heatsinks that seem to be all the fashion these days.

          Those "stupidly big ram heatsinks" are there for a reason. These new ram types get HOT, especially when overclocking! Just be careful with the low profile ram since they are probably designed for server use and they would have a large amount of airflow flowing by them to help keep them cool.

              Ive been using corsair hydro cooling solutions for a while now, quiet and run very nicely. Depending on how heavy you plan to clock your cpu, they got few options. I think i used hydro 70 which is mid range and does well for 4.5-4.7 oc at about 75 deg c. under load. In general if you plan to oc your system get hardware that will handle this extra stress f.e. oc capable ram, mb, cpu etc. Buying cheapest hardware will surely result in failure and probably wont last as long.
