  • GPU slow down max even with 2 graphics card

    Hello,
I'm giving a new try at Vray GPU with a very basic scene (a room), override material on and very few furniture. I turn off all light except one (17 lights in the scene originally)
However, as soon as the active shade is on and running with RT engine (CUDA mode), assigned to one GTX670, max became very slow, so slow that it's hard to be efficient.
The computer display run trough a FX5800.
Driver version for the GTX and the quadro is : 9.18.13.2049
    OS is : Win 7 64 bit.

    Any idea?

    Thanks

Yea set the max ray bundle and the other one to 64/8 settings and run both of GPUS. U should not have any lag with those settings.

      Hi.

You can try reduce Rays Per Pixel param (some additional info on that can be found here http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help...der_3dsmax.htm), it should help.

Also, you can set VRay to use only one of the GPUs (use ocldeviceselect.exe, it is shipped with the VRay installation), thus leaving the other for Max. If you want to do that, it is good idea to uncheck the GPU that is attached to the monitor.

      Best,
      Blago.

      p.s. DADAL got it first

What are your current settings ?
Have you tried using only one GPU (at least, just for the test).

Thanks, only the gtx is on rt, the fx 5800 is not use by the render engine.
1: I remove all furniture, keep the 17 lights on (most of them are instance). Zoom and scrolling in the viewport (wireframe) with the hand is barely possible!

2: I remove all furniture, keep the 4 lights on (instance only). Zoom and scrolling in the viewport (wireframe) with the hand is smooth (not as smooth as it should be)!

Anyway, I also notice screen refreshment problem when the active shade is on and running.

              Guys,
              I'm feeling so embarrassed...
one of the screen was plug into the GTX (RT), that's why the display was not smooth.
Sometime we need to go back to basic before crying!

              Sorry again.
