CUDA vs. Geforce Drivers

This might have been asked before but I've been searching for a couple hours and haven't found any answers.
Is there any performance difference between installing the CUDA drivers over the regular Geforce drivers?
I don't want to test it out just yet because my system is currently playing nicely.

I'm not actually sure if there's a difference; things have been working fine for me with either version of the drivers.

I've been hunting around for answers and still not turning up anything.
I called up EVGA and two of the guys there at first said, "you know, matching different GPUs doesn't work" to which I explained that I wasn't playing video games lol.

But they didn't even know and suggested that I test it out.
The problem is that my system is playing nicely at the moment and didn't want to risk anything until work quiets down.

From what I can find, the CUDA drivers are more like an SDK for CUDA. Then it checks to see what version of the video card driver you are running and updates it, if necessary. So I think it's using the same nvidia driver. At least that's what it looked like to me, assuming I was looking at the right page.

Yeah that's kind of what I thought. But I do know you can install them separately from another (you don't need one or the other drivers.)
However no one seems to really know if there's any performance difference from what I could find.
