So, I saw this coming for a while now, and it happened. My supermicro server was 5.5 years old of continuous rock solid operation running 24/7 under heavy loads often. Then, one day I was going to install an additional fan into it and I shut it off, when I powered it back on well it wouldn't power on. No sign of life what so ever. I thought it was the psu, so I bought after market one (corsair 1000w). But after connecting it I saw the system light up then go dead again. After hours of painful troubleshooting I got it to boot. I figured that, I had to switch on the psu button and the power button at the same time then it started. If I did them one after the other it would not.
So, just wondering if anyone had any experience with such event. I am working on the system now, no problem. Renders, performs as it did.
Any ideas welcome!
