  • Ram limit

If I have a workstation with 32gb ram, and 2 nodes (one with 64gb and the other with 16gb, what can I set the memory limit at? Does it have to be half of the lowest node?

    Thanks

If you are talking about dynamic memory limit, its not as linear as you expect; Vray does a good job about managing the memory for what it needs. If you have a scene which uses 100% of cpu with not a whole lot of ram, or not maxing out the ram then generally you can leave the dynamic memory limit alone. If you have a heavy scene which is a mixture of dynamic geo and static geo and you are running out of ram, then unfortunately you run into a problem - setting ram limit too low will force memory flushing so rendering performance will drop on the machines which have higher ram limits. Settings the ram limit high will make your lesser machine not able to render at all.

But those are extreme cases, generally I'd try to set ram to be something like 12-16 gb and see what that actually gives you in your scene.
