Okay, no jokes aside, how do you think V-Ray would perform with this $700 machine at our local big box store?

The price is extremely low, IMO. Maybe, double the RAM. I should buy it, test it, and return it

Well, cpu wise it's as fast as my workstation

That being said, I hardly don't do any render on my wrkstn

It's faster than our render nodes with the same amount of ram. They did the jade animations I posted in another thread in just under an hour per frame.

OK but I think that only comes with Windows 10 HOME (not PRO)

But Dell's US site says you can change home to Pro for extra $50

I think I'll go there, download max, install V-Ray, and test it 😀

                  Why is pro required?

A lot of Autodesk's products has networking capabilities and require other Windows components that is only in pro .(like Backburner etc), so it will only install on Pro

Gotcha, thanks. I just need to buck up and buy a faster machine, which will probably cost me around 4 grand.

The XPS in the first post, of this thread, looks to be the exact configuration of the BOXX's APEXX 1 1401, or am I missing something? The XPS is $700 and the BOXX is $3,000.

Yes but you're missing one crucial point. The Boxx logo sticker on the case is bigger.
But seriously this is why I havent purchased a "branded" pc ever. A lot of it is for the name and for the "support"
Buy the parts and build it yourself (or get the retailer to build it for you)
                              Kind Regards,
