hmmm.....I'm on the team of having a small farm but, in regards to you wanting one machine... I would get as many cores as you can - dual 10 core, 64 gigs of ram...ssd drive and whatever Quadro card you can afford (I don;t do any of that gpu render stuff). You might be able to get them to throw together a custom machine for you.

But the cpu it self bobby is going to be quite a bit faster then your current one -

Actually I take it back, in the passmark test they have a dual cpu so, its a bit faster but not by much.
I have a dual E2680v3 and its about three times faster then x5650.Dmitry Vinnik

My xeons are all x5650 (farm) with dual 6 core cpus so 12 in total, and my workstation is a dual 12 core so 24 cores in total. The one you posted is a e5-2699 basically the best you can get in the e5 category. I have e5-2680 v3 (the v is important) v2 had less cores. The one you posted is really really good. 128 gb of ram too. I'd get that one if you could.Dmitry Vinnik
