Ahhhhhhh so you have two monitors. You can try switching off the monitor connected to the quadro card - however, it seems (as by RT, although it's the nVidia driver, thinking a graphics card is active just by a cable being plugged into it) the nVidia drivers will try to use the quadro. You might find your only option is to physically unplug the monitor cable coming out of the quadro card.

No - I should have said 'virtual monitor'!

Ok . Which virtual monitor (read graphics card) have you set as the primary display in windows?

Still guessing you may have to unplug the monitor cable from the quadro regardless

Monitor 1 is the Quadro. Monitor 2 (the virtual screen) is the GTX.

I guess pulling the cables is the sure way of doing this but it would be better if I could somehow switch through 'software'

Which monitor does windows have as it's primary display - i.e. the one that has the start button?
