  • New PC - CPU ? GPU ?

    Hello,
End of holiday, I just came back and I have to make a choice between 2 CPU : 5820K or 6800K ! almost the same price, the same perf ... I read here and there a difference when you want OC (not my case) ..
Can I have some tips? I lose my mind!

Same problem with the latest Nvidia graphics cards (almost) ... Does anyone have comments about the 1070 GTX ??

    Thanks in advance
    (Sorry for my bad english)

For cpu's at that range just got by the $ / mark from here (the 5820 comes out on top) - https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php...0K+%40+3.30GHz

and for gpu dont get anything less than a 1070 now.

      Hi,
Yes I have already compared the two CPU in cpubenchmark before posting (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare....cmp%5B%5D=2785)
They are very similar, but more recent 6800 ... The only argument that I find at this time between them is about OC ... and it's not my case
Strange feeling because I have never been in this situation before. When I was decided to upgrade my hardware, I knew what I had to do, the choice was obvious.

Yes, in fact I was thinking about a 1070.. It seems to be a good ratio between perf and price. I would like to see somes test with max/vray

Basically, 80 bucks more for the newest CPU with the same perf.
        It's more like Broadwell-E vs Haswell-E...
But yeah, 80 bucks could give me more RAM !

Do you think it could be justify ?

Depends how tight your budget is... If it was for myself, i'd save the 80 (caveat - i dont overclock). by and large I doubt you would notice the difference even with both side by side.

            Thank you Neilg
My budget is not so tight, I'm ok with that, I'd rather put more euros in RAM for example. I'm not a "overclock man" either.
I was looking for some good reasons to go with the latest architecture, but to this day I still have not found.
I think I have made my choice
            Thanks again

I would go for the 6800K. Newer and use less power and should render about the same as the 5820K
              Kind Regards,

Ok, less power but more pricey for the same perf
I think that Broadwell-E is just a marketing approach for Nvidia. Broadwell-E does nothing more than Haswell-E.
Perhaps I'm wrong but this is what I believe

Locally the 6800 is cheaper than the 5820

                    really ???
Here this is the opposite,6800K is almost 20% more expensive
It's why I ask myself so many questions...

Oops sorry my mistake, I was looking at the 5930K
                      Direct currency conversion:
                      6800K - $ 555
                      5820K - $ 514
                      5930K - $ 762
                      Kind Regards,

                        ok !I am "reassured"
with 40$ difference, it would be another debate but here, it's more like 80$ so...
Anyway, it's ok for the CPU,now I have to think about GPU !

gpu is non question, get a 1070, if you can afford it a 1080.

Yes !! you're right ! I totally agree with this
I just want to wait and see more test from users about the 2 last gtx with max/vray

                              I just picked up a 2nd hand titan x 12gb for slightly more than a 1070 costs, and $200 less than a 1080 costs.

Hopefully that was the optimal choice...
