  • What fan controller should I use on my 2699v4 rig?

    Hi

I have 2 X 2696 v4's (AKA 2699v4) mounted to the Asus Z10PH-D16 motherboard all packed inside a HAF staker case. I have had to connect the Cosair h60 CPU hydro coolers to the front fan connects as the system ones are not on this board (trust me this is correct for this server board as it uses goldenfinger).

So inside the bios I have told the front fans to all operate at full speed becasue I dont know enough about how the system will behave when the CPU cooling is only attached the the front/case fan system. I'm worried about the CPU's going over 79 Celsius and cooking those very expensive CPU's....HOWEVER I'm sure with a bit of good guidance someone might be able to help me.

Ideally I would like the fans to only operate at max when the system is on full load and not when idle, could I go back into the bios and put the fans back to "Generic Speed" and the system will work out the front/case fans need to speed up when the cpu is starting to heat up or do I need to use some sort of software to manage this?

    Thank you in advance

I have only one 2699v4 ES. With lower clocks, but still a beast. So - never reached anything above 43C. Case is Define XL R2 + TR IB-E Extreme. Everything set to auto, case coolers to lo.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

just a render monster so not to worried about the 64 core/thread limit...whats with 3d max, they should have addressed this in v2017.

          all is ok

I just bit the bullet and set it back the "generic speed" and the fans span up as the demand kicked it and the temperature was kept at below 69 Celsius...I guess most people knew this but I was scared.

No worries, always good to know
I was gonna build a node like that in few weeks but I've been told to avoid asus and go asrock in stead.
Any thoughts on your journey with Asus board for those puppies?
