Xeon E5-2630 v4, 2.2GHz, Turbo 3,1GHz - what frequency on rendering?

Hello,

I have to questions about this xeon which is a type of processor I dont know very well.

1) It run at 2,2GHz and turbo is 3,1GHz, but when start to render and load all cores, what is the frequency?

2) If I have motheboard for these two processors and put 64GB RAM to all 8 slots, will both processors handle whole 64GB? I mean when render in max and VRay some scene which takes about 50GB of RAM and wanna use both processors for render, would it be without any problems? Or one processor has half of RAM and seccond processor another half and scene wont render? I know it sound strange, but I just want to be sure.

turbo only really boosts a single core and downclocks the others to compensate. so for rendering it's only going to be at 2.2GHz but if your in Max using a single threaded process it will boost a single core to 3.1GHz

I already find out it run at 2.4 GHz with load on all cores.

But please anyone with workstation with two xeons tell me if memory split between processors. When I have 64GB Ram, can I render a scene which takes 55GB or not?

Its best to have the same amount of ram for each cpu. However xeons are very good at managing the workload so don't worry you will be able to render using all of your ram. Even if that ram is not evenly allocated. We had one workstation where there was no ram for one cpu and all ram was in another (due to bad mobo slot) and it still worked fine

I will put ram in all slots. I just wonder when I put 64GB, so that one processor dont allocate only 32GB and second cpu the other 32GB so I cant render scene bigger then 32GB. I hope I can use whole 64GB with max and VRay.

Yes you can use all the ram shouldn't be a problem.
