    Hello,

    have you guys at Chaos testes the new Titan V gfx card ? Will it be supported or will vray take fully advantage of it ?

    I could be wrong, but I think that the Titan V has some things that you will pay a big premium for that won't be utilized too much, or at all, in Vray. Titan V seems to be geared more towards complex scientific stuff like deep learning. I'm personally looking forward to the 1180/2080 ti

      With that in mind, and I know this is too early to ask for an answer, I understand (maybe incorrectly) that OptiX uses deep-learning technology to calculate (and denoise) the image, thus Titan V and its successors may do pretty well with VRay 4.0! Just a thought for the future.

        We have not tested the Titan V card ourselves, but there are some results on benchmark.chaosgroup.com

              Uh? Looks like 2x Tittan X match one Titan V.
              Which results do you refer to?

                My bad! I did not see the 2 Titan X part. Well, that's quite powerful then. But one Titan X = $1000. One Titan V = $3000.

                I guess the upside is that it is all in one card, instead of two, so you also save in power consumption, space, etc.

                  Eh yes, besides the density, the price for these tasks compared to the results doesn't seem much worth it.
                  Perhaps a version without the tensor cores, and all the die space devoted to standard compute would be both cheaper and more performing?

                    Yes Titan V seems really expensive for Vray GPU. I think the 2 Titan X cards in fact is Titan X Maxwell that performs similar to Titan V, and there is TItan X Pascal and Titan Xp aswell. If you don't want a 1080ti Titan Xp is still great.
                    But hopefully we get another version as Lele said with single precision only,.that will perform great with Vray GPU, if Nvidia release something like that.

                      It is too early to make any conclusions about its performance.
                      We have to test a bunch of stuff first, hopefully soon.

                        Ah! Blago! I wrote somewhere else that perhaps Titan V may be great for computing OptiX denoiser? After all, if I understand correctly, OptiX uses DeepLearning technology and if I'm still tracking with all of this talk of GPUs, Titan V is geared at making DeepLearning computations faster? So... maybe you will see even faster and more accurate results in OptiX denoiser in the foreseeable VRay 4.0? Just speculation, but also excited about this future release and what it will mean in terms of output speed for my production.
