Deposit

We have discussed it and here is why you always ask for a deposit. I had a person reach out to me and wanted me to start her project before she sent the deposit. She said that she is a referral and she was told that I started work for this other person while waiting for the deposit. I said no, in 20+ years I have never started a project without a deposit. She literally emailed several days later asking for progress and I mentioned that I had not received the deposit. That day she used her American Express card for the deposit and I requested the CAD files. Several days later she asked for progress and I mentioned that I did not receive the CAD files. I followed up today and she said that she has emailed the developer and is waiting for it. About 10 minutes ago she emailed me asking for a deposit refund because they have sold the property. Now she knows why I don't work without a deposit.

Not me, I have a family and a life. I don't want clients who think like that.

agree.. infact i am sure no one want to work that way or with such clients.. provided that they have sufficient work in hand to lead a good family life.

I made the mistake when I was younger to work without a deposit and even submit final files before I was paid. Lesson learned.
