Converting TO CAD??

Is there a way to convert from 3dsMax to STEP, or a similar format where meshes can be removed and only Polys left for use as a symbol in a space planning tool such as 2020spaces.com? I have tried DWG but that doesn't seem to work either. Is Revit something that may do this?
