  • fracture object by bitmap

i need to smash something to pieces, and client wishes to art direct the shape of the pieces.

ive been playing round with rayfire, but its "fracture by bitmap" tool, which i was planning to use, is actually not what i imagined. its a plane with a flat map projected onto it.

i wish to use a b/w texture wrapped onto my object (a character) to define where it is cut.

is there a script/plugin method to do this?

What about using zbrush to slice Geo to your liking.

thanks for the suggestions guys.. zbrush is a piece of software ive never used, so given the timescales, it would mean farming out the work to somebody else, which id like very much to avoid.

RF cache.. tell me more? seems to be a geometry caching tool in Rayfire.. from what ive read you can activate and deactivate animation on a subobject level, which seems cool, but im struggling to see how it can be used to cut geometry based on a map...?
