There are good clients out there, we just have to be careful. It does help when you really don't need the project because your schedule is full of good-paying jobs. I like to ask certain questions, which allows me to pre-qualify clients. Some bad ones still get through the cracks, but I am getting better. I think communication is the key. Some have no clue what our service is or pretend not too. They think we have some skin in the game and the better the design, the more money we all make. No, I am not your employee; you hire me for a service. Imagine paying to get your tires changed and telling the service tech to change the oil and wiper blades, for free.

If they want the Max model, I say I can sell it for a fair price. I have cases, where previous customer has promised my models to another service provider without asking me first.

He wanted for free...He was assuming was part of the service and because I charged him changes he wanted to keep modifying stuff so I didn't have any interest in selling it anyways.
        show me the money!!

I always tell them, there's uninvoiced work in that model and that's why I can't just give it for free. Most people understand it when I tell it this way.

Spending yet another weekend at the office and guessing what do they want' me to do with the renderings. Sometimes I wonder if I needed pincers for plucking pieces of information out of customer mouth. I still can't read their minds, but I'm getting very good at it.

I have read some wait for all the information before they start. I tend to be a little more patient and take it as they give it to me. However, I try not to let it run my life. I too am learning.
