  • New water simulator rendered with Vray

    http://www.scanline.de/

Check it out you'll need to click on the Special: Hydro Fluid Simulations button at the bottom of the page.
This looks really excellent and what is interesting is that even though they obviously have a Cebas connection - using Thinking Particles they rendered these great images with Vray
Would like to get my hands on this software.

Final rendering times varied between 3 and 20 minutes per frame

They make some cool toys over there

They started out with fR as far as I know:

This image has been online for a long time, so I guess at some point they moved to VRay for some reason.

            Very interesting

Very interesting - they must have been having serious problems with FR to make them switch - it is pretty bad press for FR. I used to be a FR user but since I moved to VRay I havn't looked back. They do have very quick Sub Surface Scattering but that doesn't make up for all the other problems. Discreet should have gone with Vray as the certified renderer -although that could have been more or a nightmare for Vray then it was worth.
I wonder when we will be able to test drive this liquid simulator. I have been struggling with Real Flow and just thinking the 3D community deserves a more robust solution.

              Check this out: http://3daliens.com/glu3D/index.htm

I played with the demo a bit. Aside from the crashing, it's really easy to use.

                Nice way to put it

That's a really nice way to put it - "besides from the crashing" - Some products never make it past that point, lets hope that it gets reliable before they try to push it on the general public there is nothing worse then getting excited about a piece of software that in theory does great things but winds up being a Turkey. Only time will tell.
