  • CEL image format; how to convert

I received a request to work with one project, I made almost daily 20 years ago. I found and opened the scene file without any other problems than textures being missing. I recall starting working with that particular project by using Autodesk 3DS for MS DOS. I made the textures with Autodesk Animator Pro into CEL file format. It seems MAX doesn't support that format anymore. Any ideas on how to recover the textures?

As always I have tight schedule. The customer needs final renderings on Monday.

Talk about a blast from the past!
I haven't been able to find a current, compiled reader, but look here, there's the format description in detail, so you may be able to script yourself a reader/converter.

Also, a github project with libraries to read the format

Lastly, from internet archive, the reader app from autodesk itself (which i highly doubt would run today!)

    EDIT: i have found a reader/converter!

      Thanks Lele,

I couldn't get the Pictview installed. Maybe I fetch my old XP-laptop from my boat, where it serves as navigational chart plotter and try it there. The boat, by the way, is in my profile picture.
