  • 3D Camera Tracking software - 3DS MAX

    Hello,

I am looking to camera track and drop in 3D buildings into drone footage.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Which is the best camera tracking software?

I have tried exporting from aftereffects and finding it difficult aligning, scaling etc so it matches accurately with my 3D Model?

    Many Thanks,

    Kind Regards

    Will

    Use syntheyes.
Spend some time with an hour of training materials - it seems intuitive, and you can do a track in one click, but you cant clean it up and fix drifting without knowing how the software really works.

    edit: 30 minutes actually.

I see, you posted in the other thread, so you know my opinion.
Syntheyes is great too! And PFTrack propably also. I think its important to use a sepciallized software instead of a 3d tracking module in a software that's made for different things. Spend some money, its worth it!
Syntheyes is easier to lern than 3DE, so that might be the best choise if you don't have to track for weeks. 3DE is more powerfull though but It'll take 2-3 days to get into it.

+1 for syntheyes - one of the best bits is once your license is the current version or within a year of purchase, you can talk to russ that writes it directly and he'll tell you what's up with your shots!

              Also +1 for Syntheyes
I recently bought a license and I don't really have any tracking experience. Overall the software seems pretty beginner friendly.
Personally after a few days of using it for a current job I still have some problems getting the hang of it and how to get a solid track. But I am gonna say this is 100% user error on my part.
              Cheers,
              Oliver

Just a little looking yielded this, which actually looks rather well explained and should be a good start as it immediately deals with manual/supervised tracking.
