  • 3d object packing in 3dsmax

is there a plugin which algorithmically packs 3d objects into a mesh volume? the whole "pour things into the top to fill it up" using dynamics doesnt really cut it.

    i did find "autopack"

    http://www.autopack.org/

but, apart from a very confusing website, it only supports up to max 2015. i tried it and it doesnt work. even if it did, it seems enormously un-user-friendly.

Wowza, that's a website from 2008 . Sorry, I don't have an answer for you.

I've made gabion walls using MassFX. Worked good albeit a bit time consuming. But I'd alos like to know if there is an easier way to do this sort of stuff.

Out of interest, what is the exercise and why is MassFX or similar not a simple way of achieving it?

Gabion walls can be made by using a voronoi fracture script and subsequently smoothing the individual pieces, if that helps
