I am still trying to solve blue screen issues with DELL. The motherboard didn’t fix it, so today they replaced the hard drive. I just now noticed that when they replaced the hard drive a couple years ago, they installed a mechanical drive, to replace my SSD drive. The company I purchased the DELL from I guess upgraded to the SSD for me, but when DELL fixed it, they replaced it with what originally came with it. I guess technically, it wasn’t a DELL warranty issue when the drive went bad, but nobody caught it and I had no idea that it originally came with the mechanical drive. I have 4 bays for drives, if I were to buy a few SSD drives, is it best to have my OS and software on the SSD or is it best on the mechanical drive? I know it’ll boot faster on the SSD, but wouldn’t my texture and materials load faster on the SSD? Since I am installing Windows from scratch and I knew it was going to be a machinable drive I would have purchased a new SSD. Do you think it would be worth stopping my install on this new mechanical drive and just install an SSD anyway?

I picked me up a 6Gb/s SSD, so now I should fly. I was horrified to find out that they replaced my SSD with a mechanical drive a couple of years ago; I should have payed attention.Bobby Parker

6Gb/s is just the specs for SATA III, not the speed of the drive.

It's still screaming fast. Autosaves in MAX that took about 30 seconds are now almost instant. Well, worth the trouble up upgrading.Bobby Parker
