  • cant make a folder on a network path...."deadline" job submitting problem

    hi,
on some of our machines suddenly it is no more possible to send jobs with deadline. so in detail the problem is that the user is no more able to make a new folder at the deadline /repository/jobs path.

Submission Contains the Following Auxiliary Files:
    1) C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Thinkbox\Deadline10\tem p\04.11.2019_15_40_30\untitled.max
Error: Ein Teil des Pfades "\\xxx\DeadlineRepository\jobs\5dc038649e644d18345 d2054" konnte nicht gefunden werden. (System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException) (...means: a part of the path could not be found)

so if i open explorer, go to that path and say "new folder", explorer hangs.
on the same machine another user is able to submit /make a new folder...

any idea how to fix that?

    thanks a lot

did the machine run out of disk space? also you can just clear the jobs dir and see if that helps? I suppose all users have the admin / privileges to create folders there and nothing has changed in that matter?

      thanks for help dmitry !

      ...both no /
... can try later when jobs are finished /
...i doubt that, cause if i open windows explorer i can´t make a folder there, explorer freezes...i can make a folder directly under deadline repository, but i can make no folder in any of the subfolders...

so it seems possibly a admin/privileges problem... not user based but in any way machine based !

are you running slave as service? if no, you should be able to login under another account and if you can create folder there and start slave / render job, then its most likely something up with permission.

not as service, it is to start manually... what i said at the first post is, as it seems wrong...i tested it yesterday on two machines....another user (that is able to submit jobs on another machine) is also not able to send jobs on this machine !! that was a wrong theory...don´t know who brought that up... sorry. so for me that seems to be a machine, not user based regulation. i will ask our IT when he is back from holiday again. it looks like in windows there are also machine based privileges or permissions possible.

thanks again dmitry for your time and help!

update... as i said i was able to make a new folder directly at the deadline repository but not in the subfolders. there explorer hang up. ...so i made a folder directly at the deadline repository, moved that folder manually in the job subdirectory....and...behold... after that i was able to make a new folder in the job directory without windows hanging up.
            dont ask me why. ...windows...

odd, so you don't know what happened to permissions then?

no, dmitry...i´m able to make a folder over explorer and so i´m also able to send jobs over deadline again... something did hang in windows i suspect. and with that manually moving folder the blockade went away. don´ask me...crazy windows ...
at another computer there is an error message popping up that you are not allowed to make a folder because of permissions... thats another thing here for the IT person to look at.

good time and thanks for your help
