  • Windows Photo Viewer

    Here's a weird one...
I want to quickly view images with windows photo viewer on Win 10 but it defaults to the new Photos app, which I don't like as its default behaviour with the mmb is to cycle images.
I want to use photo viewer but I cannot find it anywhere as an option to use as default, i.e. no exe for it. I can see all the dlls and other associated files in both versions of program files but that's it.
However, oddly, I have just noticed that tifs automatically open with it, so it is clearly there somewhere.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Hi,
Found this - maybe it will do the trick.

Thanks; yeah I saw various registry change suggestions but wasn't going to go there as a few sleepless nights has left me fearful of scewing something up
It's more about the fact that if I right click a tiff image then it'll show the option to open it in photo viewer; this option does not appear for all other file types, which is just bizarre.
If that happens then doesn't it suggest that I shouldn't even need to go near the registry?
I of course could use a different viewer - I have irfanview but that does an odd resize thing with zooming, which I also don't want.
Photo viewer was a good app, as its default behaviour was very simple/intuitive.

Here's an app that does it for you. It's basically just an interface for a bunch of windows registry tweaks.
        And here's the relevant setting:

Ah ok, thanks for that. You know how it is, when you get used to using a certain app over years and it suddenly disappears or changes functionality; so I can now at least get it back

Just out of interest, do you have any suggestion as to why it would automatically open tiffs only with photo viewer but nothing else? To me, that's just bizarre
