  • Listing of GPU issues/upcoming fixes etc.

Would it not be a great idea to have some sort of collated listing, either official or otherwise, of the current limitations of GPU rendering?
Ideally this would save the sort of surprises that some of us are coming up against when deciding to use it.
For example, in the thread I posted regarding matte for refl/refr not working - took a day of testing and searching to figure out that it was not, plus the thread and its response time was 2 days to get to the crux.
I'm not aware of this being noted anywhere beforehand. Only one example but there are more.
Understand please that I'm not whingeing and am not annoyed by any lacking of features that may or may not be implemented.

A simple check list, like the bugfix list that Chaos releases, would be welcome, so we can assess what will impact any given project's workflow.
An indication of what is being worked on currently/imminently and likely to be implemented or not would be also helpful.

Possibly this could be in the form of a thread containing verifiable reports of working/non-working features etc. that can be periodically collated into a single response?

I’ve gotten used to regularly checking the ‘supported features’ page which goes a long way to helping with some of these questions. Perhaps some tutorials for specific GPU workflows would be helpful though?
There are still the occasional things that come up where something isn’t working and it’s difficult to tell whether I’ve encountered a limitation with Vray gpu/ a bug or an error on my part. I do wonder if this is just part of the process of working in 3D with a rendering engine though. At a guess I’d say I probably spend about 1/4 of my time troubleshooting.
