Wasn't this site getting a lot of press for being a hoax? It looks like it was changed a lot since then.... it is also being hosted by someone other than her....

Quote from the site's current owner:

Regardless of what is true, this site has certainly made people think more about Chernobyl and this tragic disaster.

However, this story has been there for years and has been primarily forgotten and neglected.

After "Elena" brought this story to light, everyone that claims to be an expert has come forward identifying it as a hoax or a fraud.

How ironic that although they would label her a hoax and a fraud, she was able to achieve what they could not even dream of achieving. Bringing this issue the world wide attention it deserves.

I would think their problem was not that SHE brought the world wide attention it deserves, but that attention was brought period.

If it is a hoax it's pretty well set up....it sure looks quite real.....especially her near the reactor......

it's really astonishing.....and sad at the same time. I guess the thing that really caught my eye is when she talks about the "deafening silence" in that ghost town......I think that would be really disturbing...let alone all the abandoned stuff.

When that happened, I was living in Constanza, Rumania a medium size town on the western side of the black sea, and I was 9 years old. I remember we all had to go to the doctor to get some kind of "medicine" or something that was supposed to help mitigate against radiation. I think it was more something to keep parents feel like people/doctors were doing "somthing" ....
Even though that town was thousands of miles away, I guess they thought radiation would spread through there and beyond.

          thanks for sharing Morbid Angel,

          paul.

I remember viewing the site sometime last year. There's an upcoming PC game called Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. Their imagery is eerily reminiscent of photos on the kiddofspeed site.

oh yea, just think of all the ghosts roaming around in that facility.... would make for a creepty "silent hill" type of game.

Somewhere I thought I heard that it does spread through the upper atmosphere. Possibly a fictional movie though.

That was a good read though, I wonder what the grounds and specifics of it being a hoax were. There are some areas where she says that this or that was discredited by scientists. Maybe calling it a hoax is something lost in translation and it's simply saying that some statements aren't completely true.

hoaks or not, fact is that chernobyl exploaded because of human error and stupidity, fact is that thousands of people died, fact is that hundreds of thousands more were born disabled, ill, retarded, fact is that city of pripyat is abandoned and has been for last 20 years.
These are facts, whats on those pictures could be visual representation even if not real. Seems pritty real to me.
My uncle died while fighting to put out the fires of chernobyl. He was a pilot of the chopper which was dropping off fire suppressant and by being in the air they got the most radioactive poisoning. All died.

i remember that day. the geiger counter of a friend in the physics lab at ETH zürich went crazy. he guessed that something extraordinary happened, before the bad news were spread in the media.

I think what many people questioned (in the original posting) as far as being a hoax, is that some of the photographs were of simple abondoned places near or around there. They also questioned her ability to roam around in there alone. I think that those misleading stories, and pictures have been removed. From all that I was reading, the site in its current form is fairly accurate.

But I do remember reading this a while ago, and being disapointed when I found that there were some non-truths in the story. In the same way that I was disapointed when I found out that some of the birds in "Winged Migration" were trained birds and not naturally migrating. It is just a minor thing but it makes you question the whole thing.
