Used it on a project last year and works perfectly. But it won't do wonders. Google Maps 3D models are what they are and for anything but distant buildings it just looks crap.
its useful for reflections/shadows on buildings, or fast flyovers. agreed its no use for direct visualisation in most cases.
And i wouldnt assume it can be stopped so easily by google.. this method rips the 3d models from your gpu ram.. They need to be present in your gpu ram in a specific format to be used. google cannot easily avoid that, although im sure they are cleverer than me so i cant rule out they find a way!
