Due to room layout, i have to use wifi to connect my workstation. Ive tested against wired, and speed wise i dont get a noticeable difference. However occasionally ill come back to my machine, which has been rendering, and either wifi is disconnected, or its connected, but says "no internet"
Its quite a rare occurence. However today, i went out for the first time in ages, left an image 80% done, saving to dropbox for client. Got a message while out, that file didnt arrive, tried to connect to my pc remotely, it was offline. Client had to wait till i got home, wifi was connected, but no internet. Re-connected wifi, file was sent.
There must be an app of some kind which regularly pings a few reliable websites, and if none reply, restarts the wifi? Ive tried to find something, but my google-fu is letting me down.
Alternatively something which does a similar thing, but switches to a 4g dongle if internet is down..?
