cellular for me, though i dont use it alot. I still probably just use the standard noise map the most out of all the procedurals.

i think gradient ramp is most powerful and the reasons for that are:
ramp has color blending, noise, directions i.e. shadow/light, square, circular, mapped etc. It can be used to blend many maps for closeup to distance, the flags can be animated for texture growing effect...which im using to make cheracter freeze overtime.

another example is by blending multiple gradients you can achieve pritty much any landscape shape:

noise, fall off are also great maps but non of them can do as much as this

true, the gradient ramp is pretty powerful but I dont use it much. When i need to animate it sure, but otherwise I just use a texture gradient, it uses alot less memory...

Morbid.... I've been known to use the Gradient Ramp, but I don't know what you mean by this? Can you explain a little please?

davision here is the quick scene i made for you to look at. Basicly, all you do is mix gradience in various modes with procedurals and get surface shapes with displacement.

Thanks for posting that scene. It looks like a good method -- I didn't know you were also using scianacomp -- that's also a powerful (non-core) plugin.
