  • Volume fog/vdb etc

Today I came across this on youtube. The fog looks pretty nice to me. I use vrayenvfog and it is just so slow to use. This example is almost instant in the viewport. Is VDB an option or is there some other method I could use that would compare timewise/quality level to the example in the video? I think, in some areas, vray and 3dsmax are miles behind blender.

    Regards

    Hey,

You can do the same thing using Phoenix or the Volume Grid inside of V-Ray. Here is how it looks - https://www.facebook.com/groups/VRay...6402350512336/
If you scroll down a bit in the comments you can find a video how this is setup.

    Cheers!

I'm using max 2019 and vray next update 3.1. When I start IPR it takes ages to start the render using your setup. I've only got one light and the vrayvolumegrid in the scene. Nothing seems to be showing up in the IPR either. Any ideas?

Never mind. It's because I was using CPU IPR. GPU IPR works fine
