The article above reads like you could just drop one of these new chips in an existing AMD Athlon motherboard. Could you slap two these in a dual opteron MB?Best regards,

Nope- that's what the Dual Core Opterons are for (the ones listed above are dual core Athlons)... I think the DC Opterons can go into preexisting socket 740s.Comment

The 64-bit Opteron 4000s are already $800+... I would imagine the x2 will be 2x that.
