Max 2021 install

Hi
has anyone had an 'easy' install with Max 2021, I keep getting Error 1603 ? I have tried it on 2 different computers, admin rights enabled etc and tried all that Autodesk and others (with same problem) have advised (installing/updating .net framework, redistributables, licence server etc etc), all that happened was Max 2018 stopped working, which I then corrected.
Any advice (please), what I should be doing, not doing, updates etc, never had anything like this happen before

Weird. It just installed here. That includes on a bunch of heterogenous render nodes, various OSes and graphics cards.

by various OSes you mean different windows versions, right?

Yes, I consider win 10 a different OS from Win 7.
