  • Creating a randomly tiled shader.

I have to re-create the facade of this building. I was thinking OSL might have a map that could create the random squares?
I tried with the tiles map, but seems to be a lost cause..
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Hmm...the thing is that it is not random; that is, if you want to recreate it then it'll need to be correct, no?
It looks like there are only a few different panel sizes so personally I would set it up correctly - shouldn't take that long really

        It is tileable.
I'd use railclone to create one repeatable pattern and place it on top, cutting out windows and etc. With railclones "cap holes" this should be quite easy task.

Looks to me like it only tiles up to a point, on the long side, then breaks up. It would probably look fine if tiled but it wouldn't be a faithful recreation, if that's the objective
I reckon they messed up and put a wrong panel in there on the corner bits

Ended up getting the architect to create a quick 10x10 cutout of the facade. Then i scattered that around the base mesh. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll go try some of them now
