Archi Diagram Question

I'm new to all this. Question - are the highlighted pink items masonry columns?

Also, does anyone know of any good images which applies to this:



I've seen some 'spiders' floating around the forum - not sure how the trusses and lateral support work in tandem with them though (Ibeams or something funky?.) Perhaps I can get away with simple rectangles...

they look like solid columns, what layer are they on? ..
and look on evermotion in the free section for some spiders ...there are some there.
