  • AWESOME

Can I just highlight the overuse of this term. The image would have to be close to Godliness in quality in order to be 'awesome'. How can an image be awesome? Is there nothing better than the image? If an image were truly awesome, wouldn't we start praying to it, or have a heart attack, a stroke or something worse?

    Rant over.
    Kind Regards,

No way, I think it's entirely appropriate! That is, if the image is truly awe-inspiring. We all know there are the renderings we look at and think 'yeah thats really good' and then there are the "awesome" ones we see where our jaws drop to the floor.

                  awe·some Pronunciation Key (ôsm)
                  adj.

                  1. Inspiring awe: an awesome thunderstorm.
                  2. Expressing awe: stood in awesome silence before the ancient ruins.
                  3. Slang. Remarkable; outstanding: “a totally awesome arcade game” (Los Angeles Times).

'awesome' is a fair-enough choice of word in *some* situations, but c'mon, it pops up at least four million times a day.

Michaelangelo was perhaps awesome. We (pushing it a bit here) are not.

While I usually like the discussion of semantics, I think that it would be hopeless to nitpick the the use of the word Awesome, which in this godless world has come to means "really cool," to a forum where native English speakers probably consist of less than a third of the total members.

On the other hand, to continue with your thought, I find that people over praise each others work in order to be nice. If the work is so so, they usually say: "That is really great." If it is bad, they will say: "I like it." If it is good they will say it is "Awesome." I came from Architecture school where people did not praise your work... you had to suffer through hard criticism like everyone else. How else are you to grow?

Look through these thread and tell me who you think is the Architect in the group of judges.... actually he is an ex-architect.

Well I think it is someone related to the fact that people look at work here. And the word Awesome is mostly seen here.
