  • Brick/tile generator

I don't think anyone has posted with this yet, so here it is. It does not work in 22, despite the install option.
21 is fine so far and it appears to be very capable and feels much, much quicker than the alternatives and with a pretty good UI.

The cool thing is that it works with 2D displacement.

edit: the only downside, is this is subscription based, big no for me.

Very weird this is subscription based. 99% of Tiled textures I need are always custom made, so the library does not make sense. Making this tool inside Max is also weird since the output is a tiled texture; integrating this in Max would only make sense if the texture was generated infinitely random. Then the automatic tiles recognition also needs an underlying black and white map; I use Omnitiles (which now has become a lot more mature than it used to be) the tile recognition is really AI-based, which - for now - is a lot better. Nonetheless, if they make the plugin standalone and perpetual with a seperate texture subscription, I would certainly join the club.

I also use Omnitiles, but there's a lot more nice tools in quick-tiles. I used to use the one that is integrated (Walls N Tiles) with Max but it was painfully slow and couldn't use 3D displacement it was infinitely random though.

Yes, it really has some useful features. I just have a bad feeling about the business model. It's reinventing the wheel (Brix... Mighty Tiles...); it's just not used that much as a wheel...and therefore subscription may just be the end of it. I just don't see the benefit of subscription for tools that just dont need frequent updates. Of course when you are a texture artist it's a completely different story; but then I would spend a few $K for a solid tool like this. And then Substance is just a steal.

Agree, they're shooting their own feet off with that model.

Totally agree with this. Such tool will not be updated constantly and even texture artists will find something which you will pay for only once. That's why with Geometryy Store we went for a simple price per pack business model - simple and understandable.
Though the tool itself is quite interesting. This looks quite like OmniTiles, but I believe Omnitiles wins this competition.

Yeah. I'm currently working on a project that needs gradually color-changing cobblestones over a very large complex area, and only with this tool it's easy peasy.....so it still is a no-brainer for the moment at that price. But they now missed me purchasing a more expensive perpetual license
