  • So the old Autodesk auto-renewal game starts again....shady business...

Yep, I have just started to get the constant emails, in-app popups...maybe they'll start sending someone around to my house to check up on me....

Autodesk, you are some shady mofos for sure. My account showing that if I accidentally turn on the only option they are pushing on me daily, then they will
seemingly cease to honour a deal that is presumably still available and under the same terms as I have paid for previously.....yeah, lovin' that business model AD

And despite this I guess happening to many many others, there is virtual silence on the issue and clearly complete inaction - I would say deliberate subterfuge - in order to clearly state
options on a personal user's account page.

Shameful, shady, sharp practice...tsk tsk AD, d'you never learn?

Also, is this not in some way deeply illicit behaviour?

I'm deeply interested, but unfortunately, you're talking in a language I do not understand!

    Care to elaborate old boy?

oh yeah...meant to attach a grab.
I bought indie version but now getting the daily email and max popups advising auto-renewal, which is the only option on my account page, as you can see - and at the vastly inflated cost.

Everyone should approach autodesk like the website cookie popups. Beware of the dark patterns...

I've seen something about this on the AD forum, Jon Bell of AD (see message 8 of 16) says what should happen.

          https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-m...297194#M195245

Also, I've just signed in and tried to renew (as I too have 3DS Max Indie) as a test and it says £306 for me (I'm in the UK, like yourself).

I wouldn't panic - as far as I know, AD are aware of it and the price should remain at that low amount.

Follow Jon's advice on that link above and you should be okay.

Unfortunately that link is still misleading. One response effectively saying yeah...give it a go...if it's wrong we can look at a refund...
Also the post is from February and they still haven't responded more fully? As I said...shady.
That is not how stuff works.
They are encouraging with the threat of software failure something which they have known is wrong for a very long time. So they need to fix it.
That's it really. It is not hard...maybe their IT guy is on holiday....

I'm not really panicking - I just despise companies that behave like this.

Out of interest, did you click the auto-renew button or do you have a different page without that option but with simply a 'renew' option?

I'm pretty sure Jon says at that post number to turn auto-renew off and you'll find that the price will be correct. that's the one you should really care about.

That's what I've done and that's what works for me.

We all know what and who AD are and their history.

I have auto-renew always turned off and that is the page I see.
I cannot even edit my billing info...the only thing I can do is (not) click the auto-renew
