    Is there any available software that that can 'automatically' create simple 3d models of buildings from a series of photographs? I am sure I read about something like this some time ago, but maybe I was dreaming. I know there is Realviz Image Modeller, but here you have to manually create the block models and it will extract the textures for you. I need something simpler/more automated.

    My project is a large industrial/warehouse estate. I have around 8 aerial photos taken from all different angles (don't know the lens/focal lengths unfortunately) and I need a simple block model of the site.

    Any ideas?

    i dont know about automatically build. but check out www.realviz.com for imagemodeler

        you could do it with sketch up if you have reasonably decent photos. use the image as a paint swatch and then push / pull what you need to and it will pull the image along with it

          thanks guys - I'll give PhotoModeler a try. I think that is the program I once read about. Has anyone actually used it?

            I have a little experience with it. the one thing you have to keep in mind is that the more angles of the object in question you have to work with the better your results will be. the topology of the resulting object can sometimes be a bit messy and may not look good rendered unless you use the texture maps applied to the surfaces at 100 percent illumination level.
