DaForce....dont wanna spoil it for you but the aliens die all by them self...it was like whats the point of making a movie if it solves all the problems by it self.
And the visual effects well they were ok but nothing like wow that was cool. I expected to see more then 1 type of alian ship...the only thing I liked about aliens is the rendering of the alien cheracter. That was nice.
The whole movie is:
daddy! rachel...daddy! rachel....bobby....daddy...rachel...lol...
I guess this movie is clearly showing the age of the novel is based on.. I thought spielberg would imagine a neat trick to surprise us, but oh, he didnt
For me, the first 30 min or so are amazing, BUT the basement part is awful...I think I´ve never seen so many Deus Ex Machina in a single movie as this has.... What do u think of the crazy basement dude?
And guys, havent u suffered a cheerful deja vu when watching these machines walking around the city, specially if u´ve played half life 2?
BTW i found the bridge destruction scene to be excellent, and the evaporative
people effect very interesting...what a pity...those machines look like Cell from Dragon BALL, maybe im losing it...
i agree with you percy, good film, kept to the story, ish.
it had good scale but i think some of it had a bit to much light effects and not cg (in the house the plane crashed in to and on the hill with the army.
bit side tracked, live 8 at hyde park.did any one see pink floyd amazing!! just hope they get back together and tour one last time!!!
Not a 10, but I must say I enjoyed it, especially the beginning. I liked the way the story was told from such a narrow point of view, never really giving us all the facts. It brought the feeling of despair to the viewer in a very nice way. A few scenes are very powerful, like the train crossing scene. I also thought it was refreshing to see a movie where the aliens don't lose because "humanity is superior", but due to a mistake/oversight on their own part.
Basement part was too long though, and ending was too short. Hoping for a longer directors cut. And why was it 1:85 and not cinemascope?
And it was way better than Independence Day! (btw, happy 4th all you americans)

Um, I haven't seen it yet, but that's the story! May have something to do with life and the eternal struggle of all things, but hey why couldn't Speilberg come up with a really neat looking Bazooka! Die Aliens Die!!!!!!!! Boom....the end.
Morbid Angel:
The movies is in keeping exactly to the book.
The aliens die from earth bacteria/diseases, because they dont have any immunity to it.
The movie was meant to remake not a recreate...really. Well either way the end is the same as the book.
So i guess it all depends on what you go in expecting.
Still gonna see it tho. It does look fairly impressive.
Most annoying line.
