  • saddle chair for long working hours..

    Hi all,
Hope the new year is treating you all well !!

Out of my many new year resolutions.. One thing that i surely want to change is my seating arrangement.. I am finding it difficult to maintain good posture while working for long hours on standard chairs with back rest.. My back has started showing some early signs of poor posture like numbness.. tingling.. back pain etc .. & i want to fix it asap! I am thinking of investing is a good saddle chair like this-

I have seen one of my dentist friend using it in his clinic & he is very comfortable using them for his kind of work..

Has anyone tried them for our kind of work yet?

    Awaiting your feedback

I've had back issues for years so I sympathise, though numbness from sitting may be different, so you definitely want to swap something in your setup.
I haven't tried this particular seat but did try a different 'ergonomic' thing which I didn't like.

I ended up getting a Herman Miller Embody chair which I've used for years now and it appears to have worked, as I suffer far less than in the past.
It's a shame that we can't rent chairs to see what works best, as they are a big investment.
    Good luck wih your choice

I have been feeling weak due to long days sitting at my desk for quite some time. I replaced my chair with Swopper (https://www.backinaction.co.uk/swopper) and love it. Besides sitting in a normal position I also like sitting on my knees on this thing (but that’s just me).
Last year I started incorporating rowing (water rower) as a daily exercise discipline and feeling great, so I also highly recommend doing such workouts.

I dropped $900 on a Herman Miller a few years ago. When I moved to San Diego, my wife purchased the same chair for $80. So many companies when belly up, this guy had 100's of them. Anyway, they are good chairs. I also stand a lot, so a standing desk might be a good idea. I had one of these for a while, but I didn't like it much (https://www.vari.com/active-seat/ST-ACTV.html). Right now, I have a drafting chair that raises and lowers. Tingling is a pinched nerve.

Thank you all for your valuable suggestions.
Looks like it is not just the chair.. I may upgrade my desk aswell to the telescopic one... so that i can stand and work in between..
I have a bad habit of slouching on chairs.. my sitting posture is just like the lady in the reference image that i shared above.. I am making a conscious effort to sit in the correct posture with my back upright..

I have domestic Martela Logic. This is my second one. I bought my first back in mid 90's, which was weared off in twenty years of use. My longest working day sitting in this chair has been 28 hours in a row.

I just switched to a Herman Miller Aeron and it's much more comfortable than my previous chair. A lof o money but hopefully it should last a life time.
The only real solution is sitting less and hitting the gym and doing 'functional' workouts.
