Max 24 SME transparency annoyance

Anyone know how to disable the transparency when dragging this around?
I see no option for this in its preferences.
I've noticed a significant lag when dragging, moreso when IPR is running, but in any case
I find it annoying, even if that isn't the cause of the lag.

Can you explain in a bit more detail what is your workflow? What versions of 3ds Max and V-Ray are you using?

Sure, I'm on Max 24, latest stable vray.
The ghosting SME is part of Max 24 and not present in earlier versions.
Are you saying that it doesn't have this behaviour for you?
